Wednesday the Senate gave the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) the power to adjust its insurance premium structure as soon as the President signs it. Touted as a method to help rebuild FHA’s depleted capital reserves this change could make a huge difference in mortgage payment for FHA buyers in Eugene/Springfield. The bill has already passed the house.

Reduced FHA Upfront Mortgage Insurance for Bay Area First Time Home Buyers

FHA today announced reduction in upfront Mortgage Insurance Premium (UFMIP) for SF Bay Area First Time Home Buyers and FHA Streamline Refinance on Bay Area homes. A change that has been prompted by passage of H.R. 5981 in the congress, will reduce the upfront mortgage insurance premium to 1% from the current 2.25%.
